In other places
Austria, Italy, Spain, United States, 2018-2019
Master thesis for the
Master Iuav in Photography, under the guidance of Stefano Graziani
In other places questions our perception of the idea of nature. Photographs have been produced in places such as natural science museums, botanical gardens, and zoos, where nature is presented as an artifact, thought and built from and to man.
The images portrait this condition between a natural and an artificial setting. The title refers to an elsewhere, built or imagined: it is the story of nostalgia of man for the natural condition, for something archaic of unspecified origin. The intent is to describe how the notion of what we consider 'natural' is always highly filtered, on the footsteps of Werner Herzog (
Fitzcarraldo, 1982) and Henry David Thoreau (
Walden; or, Life in the Woods, 1854).
